For the first time the Megaron-Athens Concert Hall is organizing an International Animated Film Music Competition as part of an ongoing strategy to develop the creative association between music and screen. The competition is organized in collaboration with the well known Animasyros International Animation Festival + Agora.
This year the entrants are called to compose original music for the awarded animation film by the Greek creator Irini Vianelli of “The leaf of the poplar”. The film is inspired by George Seferis poem of the same title and it particularly touches with an essential and sensitive way the subject of refugees and in particular all who fought with the waters of Mediterranean sea: “A leaf recedes in the wind, a man is delivered in the waves while the Greek robustness flickers in the air”.
The competition deadline is April 19, 2017. On May 17, 2017 the preselected films will be screened before an audience and the panel will choose the final winners .On the panel will be the French composer specializing in animation music, Pierre Caillet, the professor and composer Vasco Hexel of the Royal College of Music (London) and from Greece the composers Dimitris Maragopulos, Nikos Platyrachos, Konstantinos Vita as well as the director of Animasyros Festival Maria Anestopoulou.
