On Monday, May 8, the Byzantine and Christian Museum’s exhibition of Elias Kontozamanis works, entitled “The Byzantine World” opens for the public. The President of the Hellenic Democracy, Mr. Prokopios Pavlopoulos, will be opening the exhibit.
The exhibition features the painting approach of a historical narrative of a thousand-year empire, the Eastern Roman Empire. The exhibited paintings borrow from the era’s art to bring to life real figures, historical Byzantine personalities: emperors and empresses, masters and princesses, strategists, philosophers and patriarchs, scientists, historians, doctors, but also fishermen, and bronze workers.
The exhibition runs from May 8-July 2, 2017 and features 62 oil and tempera paintings.
